WHAT ARE APPRENTICESHIPS?

Apprenticeships offer you an exciting and new way to get the skills and qualifications needed by the fitness industry. Fit Training recruit and place young people with local employers and provide ongoing training and development.
 
Whether you are a young person wanting to gain employment in the fitness industry or an employer looking for new staff to develop we can help through our Apprenticeship programme.  Click here to download an application form.
 
FREE FUNDING

Training is funded by your local Learning and Skills Council and leads to a Fitness Instructor NVQ at either level 2 or 3 and key skills certificates at levels 1 & 2.
 
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAMME LAST?

·       Apprenticeship – 9 months -1 year
·       Advanced Apprenticeship – 1 year – 18 months months
 
WHO IS IT FOR?

·       Anyone aged 16 - 24, wanting to coach/teach/instruct exercise and fitness, without a University degree
·       Adult Apprenticeships are now available for over 24 year olds who are already working in the fitness Industry
·       Employers who would like help with staff recruitment and subsidized training.
 
Learners should:
·       Be keen to develop a career in the Health & Fitness Industry but not wanting to go to full-time college
·       Be of a reasonable level of fitness (this is desirable, although not essential)
·       Be enthusiastic, ambitious and committed and like working with people
·       Be a good timekeeper and have a good attendance record
·       Be prepared to work shift work and some weekends
·       Grade C or above GCSE passes in Math’s & English or equivalent are desirable

GYM INSTRUCTOR

WHO IS IT FOR?

Regular Gym uses who want to have a new career working in the fitness industry, or those who wish to gain a formal qualification and are already involved in motivating and helping people make changes to their lifestyle in a Gym environment.
 
COURSE CONTENT

·       Identify muscles and bones of the body
·       Workings of the cardiovascular system
·       Components of fitness
·       Muscles, muscle action and energy systems
·       Planning a Gym session
·       Health and Safety
·       Customer care
·       Exercise technique for free, fixed, and CV machines
·       Promoting physical activity
 
STUDY OPTIONS

With Fit Training you have a choice of two ways in which to complete your course:
·       Intensive Training Course
o   A mix of theory and practical workshops within a condensed time-frame – Monday to Friday for 2 weeks, plus one assessment day. Includes full colour study guides for reference during the course.
·       Part-time Training Course
o   For those who need to work around other commitments. A mix of theory and practical workshops 1 day per week, for 10 weeks, plus one assessment day. Includes full colour study guides for reference during the course. 
 
PRE-REQUISITES

Over 16 years of age with experience of using a Gym.
 
ASSESSMENT

·       Practical assessment (plan, teach and evaluate a Gym session)
·       Multiple choice theory paper
·       Internal Worksheets completed during the course
 
CERTIFICATION

CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing -GYM
Entry to REPS at Level 2
 
PROGRESSION

·       Continuing professional development at level 2 in Circuits, Aerobics, Aqua, core stability, teaching children or Studio Cycling
·       Pilates
 
 
 
 
   
LEVEL 3 ADVANCED FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
 
 
WHO IS IT FOR?

Individuals over 18 years of age who wish to gain an in depth knowledge for working with specific client goals in fitness. (Forms part of the Personal Trainer Certificate).
 
COURSE CONTENT

Level 3 Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
·       Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology
·       Kinesiology
·       Nervous system
·       Information gathering and the psychological stages
·       Resistance and cardiovascular training methods
·       Identify methods to overcome barriers to Exercise
·       Construct long term Exercise programs
 
STUDY OPTIONS
