The CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is relevant to candidates aged 18 and over, that have an interest in working with healthy adults.
Candidates will need to complete the following modules:
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy
- Physiology
- Kinesiology
- Nervous System
- Information gathering and the psychological stages of change.
- Advanced programming for fixed and free weights (with case study managed over a 12 week period)
- Goal setting
At this stage candidates can request the Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing (free if on PT Course)

- Stress management
- Teaching methods
- Major foods and food groups
- Minor constituents of food.
- Fluids & Fluid requirements
- Nutrition and energy production, storage and balance
- Nutrition and fat reduction.

- Programming and movement analysis for the sports participant.
- Advanced programming and monitoring
- Goal Setting - short, medium & long term
- Analysing information on clients past and current performance

- Advanced resistance training/circuits
- Plan, manage and evaluate programs
- The performance cycle
- Coaching methods
- Externally assessed theory papers
- Internally assessed live case study (adv RT & CV)
- Internally assessed case study (Nutrition & Client Appraisal)
- Internally assessed analysis and session (Sports Conditioning)
One current level 2 qualification in a related area (within 3 years) and a current HSE approved First Aid at Work qualification. (25 hrs)
