WHAT ARE APPRENTICESHIPS?

Foundation and Advanced Apprenticeships offer you an exciting and new way to get the skills and qualifications needed by the fitness industry.

FIT TRAINING recruit and place Apprenticeships with local employers and provide on-going training and development.

Training is supported by your local Learning and Skills Council and leads to an NVQ at either Level 2 or 3 and key skills certificates at levels 2 - 4. See the Apprentice Framework page for more information.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAMME LAST?

Foundation Modern Apprenticeship : 1 year
Advanced Modern Apprenticeship : 18 -24 months (depending upon status)

WHO IS IT FOR?

Anyone aged 16 - 24, wanting to coach/teach/instruct exercise and fitness and without a university degree

You should:

  • be keen to develop a career in the Health & Leisure Industry but not wanting to go to full-time college.
  • be of a reasonable level of fitness (this is desirable although not essential)
  • be enthusiastic, ambitious and committed with a pleasant personality
  • be a good timekeeper and have a good attendance record
  • be prepared to work shift work and some weekends
  • Grade C or above GCSE passes in Maths, English and IT or equivalent are desirable

SKILLS ACTIVE

Determines content of Apprenticeship programmes and the following training and development areas are to be completed to obtain the full Apprenticeship Certificate from SKILLS ACTIVE
